Fighting Hunger in the local community.
We seek and support people in need, which include those who are marginalized through such things as mental health issues, addictions, homelessness and poverty. We also provide support to people in need because of social isolation, limited social skills, limited education and in time of crisis. We seek to build community, celebrate the Soup Kitchen Community and promote access to services, participate in the wider community and engage in meaningful and productive activities, especially with programs for children and the elderly.
COC FOOD PANTRY partnered with North Alabama Food Bank in 2014 and joined the fighting for hunger movement and have served over 240 families in Lawrence, Morgan, Limestone, Colbert, and Franklin County who were in dying need of food. We found that it was more people in need of cooked healthy meals who were unable to cook for themselves or had limited resources to grow their own food. COC FOOD PANTRY decided to expand services to a Soup Kitchen where it would be a place where anyone can come for a meal at no cost.
Make an impact on hunger relief in the local community by providing cooked meals for people who do not have the resources or ability to cook healthy meals at home. Provide a place where people who are homeless, veterans, children and migrant and disable are welcome where there is no shame and a way to let the community know someone cares and can give them hope.
